    Update:2022-12-15

Electroplating is a process in which a metal film is attached to the surface of metal or other materials by electrolysis. Can play a role in preventing corrosion, improving wear resistance, electrical conductivity, reflective and improve the appearance.

Because of the ignorance of electroplating knowledge, technicians in many enterprises encounter various difficulties in product manufacturing and cannot be solved. Today, Asset metal shares a knowledge about electroplating for everyone to learn.

    1. Embed parts in electroplating process. Because electroplating involves an electrochemical reaction on the surface of a component, exposure to electroplating chemicals is critical to the overall performance of the finished product. Part nesting will result in a lack of adhesion or coverage on the finished surface.

    2. The tolerance of the size of key parts shall be based on the plating thickness. This also means that integral assembly should be considered.

    3. Finished parts will be exposed to the environment. This will help determine the thickness of the coating required for the component to resist corrosion or repeated wear cycles.

    4. Because electroplating involves the use of an electric current to induce a reaction on the workpiece surface, the overall geometry of the workpiece will affect the current distribution (often called current density) on the workpiece surface. Electroplating tends to accumulate in places such as sharp corners, bends or threads. Advanced plating processes exist to prevent this problem from occurring.

    5. Drainage of electroplating solution (surface treatment or electroplating bath chemicals) so that the inner surface of the component is adequately covered and the plating will have sufficient bonding strength. For some parts, this means adding a leak during the design phase.

    6. Intended use and required characteristics (e.g. electrical conductivity, low friction, high strength and corrosion resistance, wear resistance, etc.). These standards should be sufficient to specify the type of metal to be used to complete each particular part.

Asset metal provide customized processing services for metal parts and metal surface treatment. providing  high-quality and inexpensive precision parts for customers around the world.
